O' laughter loving Mother of Desire,
Whose skin shimmers pearlescent in the sun.
Not even the Mighty Gods themselves can deny your power,
Bending as mortals to the potency of Love.
Hair like burnished gold tumbles in tresses and rivulets,
Eyes fathomless jewels of sea-green and azure blue.
Lips so soft and sweet,
Blushed with delicate scarlet.
Zephyrous clothes you in his sweet embrace,
You ride the Cyprian seas on a shell-chariot drawn by pure white doves.
Wreathed in myrtle and sweet-smelling flowers,
Attended by the the rich-tressed Graces and cheerful Hours.
Of your many gifts and blessing do we honour you,
For the first pangs of love, the electric touch of a lover.
A taste of honey-dew on soft lips,
The feeling of warmth in the arms of our beloved.
Of love and desire, of passion and rapture.
Of piety and devotion, of enchantment and lust.
Divine and shining Goddess, foam-born!
Gloried Aphrodite - I praise and honour you!
